The Cottage is just behind The Hare
It’s a handsome Victorian building and has been beautifully restored. You couldn’t call it a country cottage; it is, after all, in a pub car park so you can hardly sit in the garden watching the stars. But it is in a pleasing environment, a conservation area with lovely local walks along the river Dee and over the water meadows.
"Top 20 Best Cosy Country Cottages for Winter" - The Guardian, October 2022
We've geared the cottage up for people who have to be in the area for a few weeks and are looking for somewhere more homely than a local hotel. We’re thinking of people working on one of the many industrial estates (Wrexham is the largest in Europe), those in the process of buying or doing up a house, or those visiting friends or family in the area. It is also perfect for those looking for a country retreat, with some lovely walks on the doorstep, it's very comfortable when you want to stay in, and you have a good pub to eat and drink in when you want some company. The cottage has the facilities you’ll need for working from home including good kitchen tables, decent wifi and warmth.

Inside The Cottage
It’s a recently renovated, Victorian workman's cottage with a kitchen, sitting room, 2 bedrooms and utility room. There’s reserved parking for two cars and the house is well suited to stays for 2 adults or 2 couples.
The kitchen is a good size, with a dining table and 4 chairs. Original quarry tile floor with new fitted kitchen; 4 burner gas hob, electric fan oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge (note no freezer) and all the usual pots, pans and utensils. It has a small sitting room with a wood burning stove, 32” smart TV, a comfortable double sofa and two armchairs. Although this is a small sitting room it is truly cosy.
There are two decent sized bedrooms with king sized Vi-Spring beds and large en-suite showers (lots of hot water and good, powerful showers). The rooms have plenty of hanging space and shelves in fitted wardrobes. There’s good quality Egyptian cotton bed linen, too. Tastefully decorated in our shabby chic style. Full of hidden details not to be missed.
Things to note:
- Food and drink can be served to The Cottage from the pub when the kitchen and bar are open.
- The front door leads onto the car park and there is no garden, so The Cottage may not be suitable for young children.
- There are very steep stairs to the bedrooms and these might not be suitable for people with mobility issues.
